![]() ![]() Now virtually all researchers can produce high-quality video recordings in the field-at no cost. And this, in turn, has opened up new opportunities for empirical research and the areas of field research and educational research in particular. The tremendous technical progress made in recent years means that we can now take amazingly high-quality photos and video recordings with commercially available smartphones. ![]() Video data is multidimensional, appeals to different senses, and can affect the viewer much more potently than texts can. You can begin to explore images and video recordings, too-a task that is certainly very different from exploring textual data. In this first phase of your analysis, you will not only get to know your material, but you will also begin to build a large network of connections, comments, ideas, and hypotheses. But digital tools are far more powerful, because text passages can be linked to each other, for example, as well as to other documents, websites, images, or geographical locations. At first, working with digitized texts may seem much like working with a physical reference book. You can make notes and comments, record questions and ideas, highlight anything that seems important, and search for words or word combinations in texts using lexical search functions. The software will not do this for you, but it does provide a number of tools to support you in your explorative work. Here, there is a problem with dimensions, especially in studies where document analysis is carried out.Qualitative data analysis is a fascinating and rewarding process that challenges researchers to properly engage with their material and explore it in great detail. Apart from all these, there are too many freezing programs during the processing of multidimensional data in the program. I know that Twitter does not allow this, but it would be appropriate to make a separate agreement and choose a wider date range. Except, twitter data can only be pulled for one week. I also think that including quantitative analysis in the qualitative analysis program is not within the scope of the program. I think the program is confusing, especially during analysis. It says which code and how many times I use it, but I would like to see the paragraphs under the code in the same way. ![]() Another issue here is that I experienced when converting to a table after coding. Apart from that, the codes can be mixed with each other. While coding documents, I can learn what I encoded in which document when I open it in detail. I would like to be able to work more comfortably, but there is a part of the program where I can only put the main theme and sub-themes one after the other as allowed. While coding, there is an interface on the left that I think is very restrictive. Except that, the variety of language support and the ability to do these in my own language make this program stand out. In particular, it is a nice convenience to extract twitter data. At the same time, it is nice that the program includes data collection tools of the qualitative data analysis method. Adding memo while coding is also a good practice. I like coding on documents by integrating them into the program. Restrictive licensing and the trend towards leasing is not conducive to long-term projects and data accessibility. The lack of a portable version that can be run from a USB key which would allow users to easily move among their own devices in the office, at home, or in the field. For the past 3 years, I have found a wide range of uses for MAXQDA including cataloguing and building connections between documents on our research department's harddrive, to assisting a local arts organization interlink video, photo and text for an archival project. Its layout and options for coding text and assigning attributes to documents makes it a very flexible tool that is very useful to academic and policy analysts working in the private sector and government. The interface is very easy to understand which makes the software highly intuitive. MAXQDA is powerful tool for analysis and creating research audit trails in any research environment whether in private industry, government or academia. Now in my work as an analyst, I use MAXQDA to identify relevant information and references to programs and policies in a huge database of research reports. I originally used it for work with non-profits and for academic ethnographic research. Opmerkingen: The software offers excellent search features can quickly locate terms or combinations of terms and codes, and automatically add codes according to the user's specifications. ![]()
